Karen R Lint-Nguyen, CNM

Certified Nurse Midwife

Karen’s journey to Nursing and Midwifery began as a young girl volunteering for years as a Candy Striper at her local hospital in Latrobe, PA. She aFended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and majored in Nursing. In 1992 she became a Registered Nurse and cared for HIV/AIDS patients before getting the opportunity to work in Obstetrics in the hospital where she had volunteered- working side by side with the nurses who trained her. In 1995 she moved to Winchester and worked in Women and Children’s services as an RN in the Nursery, NICU, Mother/Baby Unit and as a Lactation Consultant. Bedside nursing filled her need to care for women and their babies until she felt the call to become a Nurse Midwife.

In 1999 she graduated from the first class of Nurse Midwifery students at Shenandoah University and began serving women and families in the Winchester Community. For the last 20 years she was thrilled to have delivered over 3000 babies. Midwife means “with women” and Karen feels being with mothers while they give birth is sacred and should be given one’s fullest attention and deepest compassion.

Raising a family while being with childbearing families is certainly a challenge and a commitment for the entire family. While the love for delivering babies is so much a part of being a Midwife- being a wife, mother, daughter, and grandmother is her greatest calling. She has decided to step back from childbirth to focus on caring for her family and to delight in her grandchildren.

She is joining the Women’s Center of Winchester to continue to care for the women she has served in this community for so many years. She plans to focus on wellness and offering care to women of all ages. She has a special interest in Adolescent Gynecology, Family Planning, Preconceptual Counseling, and Breastfeeding Consultation. She plans to continue lecturing and mentoring future healthcare providers.

Karen’s personal interests include being part of her faith community, singing, weight training, hiking, baking, traveling with her husband, Khanh (especially to Vietnam), and spending moments with family. She is the mother of three grown children- Khristopher, Katie Ann, and Kaleb and a Mimi to five adorable grandchildren (and counting).
